Next up on my stash busting quest was this gorgeous yellow floral crepe. I had my eye on this fabric for so long, but I have always had this idea that yellow didn’t “suit me”. After it was reduced to half price I couldn’t justify not buying it!
First up was a mash up of the By Hand London Charlotte skirt with the frill from the Eloise dress. This was inspired by a few skirts I had spotted on Pinterest- I have a full board dedicated to yellow floral fabric!
I originally cut the skirt straight but decided after to give it a bit of a dipped hem. I love this teamed with a simple t-shirt and trainers. But will equally love to dress it up for those rare date nights I get with my husband!
This skirt has definitely made its way to one of my favourite makes. I love wearing it and feel so good when I do. Perfect for brightening up a rainy day!
I got 3m of fabric so was hoping I could at least get a top out of the rest. I had a notion for a slip dress in it though so cut out Vogue 9278 and managed to squeeze it in with only tiny scraps left! I even managed view B!
I love the versatility of a slip dress. It’s great for during the summer, but I will definitely be layering this with a black polo neck during the colder seasons.
I am not entirely happy with the length of it so will definitely be taking it up a bit, and maybe in a little bit too. I think there is a little too much flare to the skirt if I go for a more casual look.
Last up in my May Makes (which dipped in to June a little too) is the Jelba too by Ready to Sew in the book Petits Hauts.
I made this top in a lovely lightweight rayon from Sister Mintaka. This fabric feels amazing on, it is so light and soft. I love the details in the top, I’m a big fan of dipped hems! The book is only published in French but the pictures are really clear and when I got stuck google translate stepped in. There are some gorgeous patterns in this book so I am happy I took the chance on getting it.
I am really happy with most of my Makes this month, and those I’m not so happy with I can definitely fix.
I have some big plans for next months makes. A few bigger projects that I am really looking forward to getting stuck in to, but also a few quick makes (a Mandy boat tee and ruska t-shirt to start with) that will help break them up a bit.
Thank you for reading,
